The department is actively supporting researches in emergency medicine. Since 2022, the Anton Laggner research grant and abstract prizes are awarded by the AAEM – Austrian Association of Emergency Medicine. Before that, Young Investigator Awards and the Dr. Karl Schleinzer-Award were conferred by the department.

Young Investigators Awards

The Young Investigator Awards honored the work of young researchers in emergency medicine and critical care medicine. Prof. Wilfred Druml and Prof. Thomas Staudinger led the award committee.

Dr. Karl Schleinzer Award

The Dr. Karl Schleinzer Award was bestowed upon esteemed researchers in the field of emergency medicine. The award ceremony was headed by the rector of the Medical University of Vienna, Prof. Markus Müller.
